Edit Your Firefox Configuration
March 27, 2012 1 Comment
Learned a cool trick this morning from 9m2pju@blogspot.com. You can edit your Firefox browser configuration directly by typing ‘about:config’ in the address bar. Upon hitting enter you receive a warning letting you know that what you’re about to embark upon may be hazardous to the health of your browser. Assuming you’re feeling confident, click the “I’ll be careful, I promise” button.
Notice there is a search box accross the top. Enter key words to find a particular setting. For example, enter mousewheel to bring up all the settings related to scrolling with the scroll wheel on your pointing device. The author suggests changing the value of mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.numlines from a value of 1 to 6 to increase scrolling speed. I haven’t tried this, as I haven’t noticed any slowness in scrolling speed. But, if you happen to tweak this setting or others, please leave a comment and share what you learn.
Be careful with this new toy, and happy browsing!
